Welcome To Eastside Community Baptist Church

(formerly Victoria Ave Baptist Ave & Emmanuel Baptist Church)
Belleville, Ontario Canada

God showed how much He loved us by sending his only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life.
This is real love. It is not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sin.
– 1 John 4:9-10 (NLT)

WELCOME!

NEW NAME – SAME FAITH

Lead by the Holy Spirit, in the early months of 2020, the congregations of Victoria Ave. Baptist and Emmanuel Baptist voted to become one ministry.  It was a logical choice as the two churches were mother/daughter churches historically.  A group of individuals interested in minister in Belleville’s east end were commissioned to start a Sunday school ministry.  This ministry would blossom into Emmanuel Baptist.
Although we had our “covid” setbacks (our first service together had been set for Palm Sunday 2020 and was cancelled due to the rising pandemic), on July 5, 2020, the two congregations began meeting as one.
The work of merging can be a bit tedious, filled with many “to-do” lists.  We have made great strides to finalize the merger (mostly red tape items).  We had a congregational vote and settled on our new name “Eastside Community Baptist Church.” God also blessed us by directing a buyer for the old VABC church building.
As we continue on, we are looking forward to getting back into our community and ministering to all those around us.

meet our pastor
Rev. Richard Smith
Pastor Richard has been serving in Belleville since January 2017.  He was born in Brockville, ON but very quickly moved on to live in Quebec, Nova Scotia, Kentucky, Indiana, Manitoba, Virginia, Missouri, Florida, and now back to Ontario.  He has been married to Korie-Lynn since 2004 and they are the parents of two boys. He is proud to admit to being the 4th generation of pastors in his family.

Pastor Richard holds a Bachelor of Church Music from Winnipeg Bible College (now Providence University College and Seminary) and a Master of Divinity degree from Providence Theological Seminary.

He enjoys music, having sung professionally with the CBC Hymn Sing program.  He enjoys cake decorating, cooking, musicals, and travelling and is a self-proclaimed “tacky tourist.”

As a pastor, he loves to see the lightbulbs go on as people realize the love that their Heavenly Father has for them and loves the fact that Jesus wants to have a personal relationship with all of his children!
